Keep reading to find out how to customize your Mac’s pointer.

1. Change Your Pointer Size

If you have trouble seeing or want to make your pointer easier to find, you can make it bigger. This is what you need to do:

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Go to System Preferences. Select Accessibility. On the window’s left side menu, select Display. Click the Pointer tab near the top of the window. Drag the slider next to Pointer Size to adjust the size to whatever feels right for you.

You’ll see that your pointer starts to change in real-time, so it’s easier to choose the right size for you. If you want to go back to the default size, all you need to do is drag the slider to the left.

2. Make Your Pointer Stand Out With Different Colors

Whether you want to express your mood with different colors, or you just want to make it easier to spot on your screen, you can change the color of your pointer in macOS. This is what you need to do:

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Go to System Preferences. Select Accessibility. On the left side menu, select Display. Go to the Pointer tab near the top of the window. Next to Pointer outline color, click the pointer’s color you want to use. Now, click Pointer fill color to change the pointer’s color to what you want to use.

You’ll see the change of color in real-time, so it’s easier to decide the color you want. If you decide you want to back to the original black color, all you need to do is click Reset.

3. Make Your Pointer Easy to Find

If you’re a new Mac user, you probably didn’t know you could enlarge your Mac’s cursor, so it’s easier to find by shaking it. Before trying it out, you need to make sure this feature is enabled.

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Click System Preferences Go to Accessibility. Select Display on the left side menu. Go to the Pointer tab near the top of your window. Click Shake mouse pointer to locate.

4. Change Your Tracking Speed

If you use a MacBook or have a Magic Trackpad, you already know how fast you can move your Mac’s pointer with a single swipe. However, some of us might not like that. Fortunately, there are a lot of settings you can use to customize your Mac’s trackpad, including the tracking speed. This is how:

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Select System Preferences. Go to Trackpad. Under Tracking Speed, move the slider to the left or right to adjust your pointer’s speed.

After you move the slider, you can try moving your pointer to see if you like the new tracking speed. If you don’t, you can repeat the same steps to keep adjusting the speed to whatever feels right for you.

5. Adjust Your Scrolling Speed

Your Mac makes browsing web pages or reading PDF files easy and fast, thanks to how quickly it scrolls down. However, it can also be a bit annoying to scroll so quickly, especially if you don’t want to move down or up that much. Fortunately, you can change your scrolling speed to something slower or faster if that’s what you want.

Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Go to System Preferences. Click Accessibility. On the left side menu, select Pointer Control. Make sure you’re on the Mouse & Trackpad tab. Depending on what you use, click Trackpad options or Mouse options. You can change the scrolling speed on both options. Next to Scrolling speed, adjust the slider to your desired speed. When you’re done, click OK.

You can then go to any website or document and test your new scrolling speed. If it still doesn’t feel right, you can repeat the same steps and adjust the scrolling speed again.
